2026-04-14
MegaCharge, the electric vehicle charging solutions arm of Mega Nirman & Industries Ltd., has formed a strategic partnership with the National Highways for Electric Vehicles (NHEV) to deploy and operate 660 charging points along a 5,500 km e-highway network. The agreement is described as a major step towards strengthening long-distance electric mobility across India and improving charging accessibility on intercity corridors.\n\nUnder the arrangement, MegaCharge will be responsible for deploying and maintaining advanced alternating current and direct current fast chargers and supporting digital management systems. The company indicated that its operational capabilities and technology stack are intended to enable reliable fast charging services and reduce range anxiety for intercity travellers.\n\nThe initiative aligns with MegaCharge's stated ambition to build 5,000 scalable and accessible charging points across India by 2030 and is presented as complementing government goals on sustainability and electrification. Company representatives said the partnership will support the development of future-ready infrastructure and help integrate charging with broader clean energy plans along national routes.\n\nThe NHEV programme covers 26 national highways and expressways across 14 states and aims to convert nearly 5,500 km into green e-highways by 2030, incorporating charging, battery swapping and roadside assistance. The project is being implemented under the Annuity Hybrid E-Mobility model with public and private partners collaborating to create a commercially viable e-mobility ecosystem.\n\nMegaCharge, which has previously deployed over 20 charging points across commercial and residential sites, identified recent installations in Delhi and Kanpur as examples of its local delivery capability. The partnership with NHEV is framed as reinforcing the company's nationwide expansion plans and its commitment to operational reliability and scalable EV infrastructure. The company expects the highway rollout to complement regional charging efforts and encourage commercial fleet electrification. It also anticipates leveraging its digital platform to streamline access and management of charging services for operators and users.
