Kirloskar Brothers Boosts Naval Capability with INS Taragiri Role

Kirloskar Brothers (KBL), a global player in fluid management solutions, has contributed to INS Taragiri, the Indian Navy’s advanced stealth-guided missile frigate, further strengthening India’s indigenous defence manufacturing ecosystem.

INS Taragiri has been developed as part of India’s indigenisation push and reflects the country’s growing capabilities in naval engineering and shipbuilding. As part of this project, KBL supplied precision-engineered Canned Motor Pumps (CMPs), which play an important role in ensuring the safety, reliability and performance of the vessel’s on-board systems.

CMPs are widely recognised for their leak-proof design, high operational reliability and low maintenance requirements. Their compact structure, along with low-noise and low-vibration performance, makes them suitable for critical naval applications where efficiency and dependability are essential.

KBL said its contribution to INS Taragiri marks another milestone in its long-standing association with indigenously developed Indian naval platforms. The company has earlier supported multiple Indian Navy projects, including INS Nilgiri, INS Surat, INS Himgiri, INS Udaygiri and INS Dunagiri. With each of these programmes, KBL has showcased its engineering capabilities and ability to meet the stringent performance standards required for defence applications.

The company’s continued involvement aligns with the Government of India’s Atmanirbhar Bharat vision, aimed at boosting domestic manufacturing and reducing dependency on imports in strategic sectors.

By supplying high-quality pumping solutions for critical defence infrastructure, KBL continues to contribute to strengthening India’s defence ecosystem and enhancing maritime sovereignty. The company reiterated its focus on innovation, quality and nation-building, supporting operational excellence in demanding environments.
