Aecom India emerges lowest bidder for Thane Ring Metro consultancy contract

Maharashtra Metro Rail Corporation (MMRC) has declared Aecom India Pvt. Ltd as the lowest bidder (L1) for the General Consultancy (GC) contract of the Thane Integral Ring Metro Project. Aecom submitted a bid of ₹142 crore, the lowest among the competing firms, according to officials.
The consultancy contract is valued at around ₹148 crore and carries a completion timeline of 48 months. Under the agreement, the selected consultant will be responsible for providing end-to-end project management support, including design review, construction supervision, quality assurance and safety monitoring.
Officials said the General Consultant will also play a key role in coordinating between multiple stakeholders to ensure smooth execution of the project while adhering to technical specifications and regulatory requirements.
As per the bid details, Ayesa Ingenieria Y Arquitectura, S.A.U quoted ₹148.1 crore, while Systra Mva Consulting (India) Private Limited offered ₹170.3 crore. Hill International Private Limited submitted the highest bid of ₹209.7 crore.
The scope of work includes engagement of a General Consultant for the Thane Integral Ring Metro Project, which is planned as a 29-km corridor with 22 stations. The project is expected to strengthen east-west connectivity in Thane and integrate with existing suburban rail and metro networks.
With an estimated cost of around ₹12,200 crore, the Thane Metro project is aimed at easing traffic congestion and supporting mobility needs in one of the Mumbai Metropolitan Region’s fastest-growing urban centres.
Meanwhile, industry stakeholders are also expected to discuss emerging technologies and sustainability trends in urban rail systems at InnoMetro 2026, scheduled to be held on May 21-22, 2026 at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi.
