Goud Urges Modi To Back Metro Expansion And Musi Rejuvenation

Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee president Mahesh Kumar Goud appealed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for central support for a cluster of infrastructure projects in Hyderabad, focusing on metro expansion and river rejuvenation. He sought approval for a Phase two expansion of the Hyderabad Metro, noting the state government has acquired a 100 per cent stake from Larsen & Toubro in the first phase and is planning an extension of 122.9 km at an estimated cost of Rs 38,595. Goud presented the expansion as vital for urban mobility and investment.

He positioned the Musi rejuvenation scheme as more than a river cleaning exercise and requested special financial assistance and designation as a national urban river restoration project to link urban development, public health, tourism and city beautification. He also requested the Union Defence Ministry to expedite land clearances required for the Gandhi Sarovar scheme at Bapu Ghat to enable coordinated riverfront planning. The appeal framed the works as interrelated elements of city renewal.

Goud urged the Union Cabinet to grant approvals and funding for the northern stretch of the Regional Ring Road to reduce congestion in Hyderabad and stimulate investment, employment and transport links in surrounding districts. He asked that clearance for the southern stretch be issued without delay and that the proposed Regional Ring Rail be taken up promptly with full central funding. He reminded the Prime Minister of the Rs 450 billion assistance sought for radial road development linking the Outer Ring Road and the Regional Ring Road.

He asked the Centre to support a 12-lane Greenfield Express Highway from Hyderabad to Bandar Port via Amaravati and to back a Hyderabad–Bengaluru High-Speed Corridor to boost connectivity and economic growth. He sought central financing for the Hyderabad Signal-Free Project, covering flyovers, underpasses, elevated corridors, junction upgrades and national highway widening, and urged priority for semiconductor projects in Hyderabad Fab City and the Future City area under the India Semiconductor Mission, citing available land, power and skilled manpower.
