Ministry Of Steel To Hold Open House On Steel Imports
Ministry of Steel (the ministry) will hold an Open House on 27 May 2026 through virtual mode to discuss issues related to the import of steel. Companies and associations are invited to present matters related to SIMS, SARAL SIMS and QCO exemption during the session. Participants will be allocated a confirmed time slot, and sessions will be conducted remotely.
Organisations wishing to take part must email tech-steel@nic.in to secure a time slot on the specified date. The ministry has requested that submissions include the name of the company or association, the type of industry and product, such as auto, aerospace, telecom or defence, and a clear indication that the issue relates to SIMS, SARAL SIMS or QCO exemption. Participants should also provide any reference to a SIMS, SARAL SIMS or QCO application and a brief description of the issue, not exceeding fifty words.
The participating individual must be named with a designation and contact details, and third-party representation will not be permitted. The ministry has stated that the specific time schedule and the meeting link will be shared in due course. Entities should ensure that requests are sent by 26 May 2026 by five pm to obtain a confirmed time slot.
The Open House is intended to provide a direct channel for the resolution of operational and procedural concerns linked to steel imports. The ministry has invited all relevant companies and industry bodies to make use of the opportunity and to ensure submissions are concise and complete to facilitate efficient consideration. The ministry will review submissions during the Open House and pursue follow-up as appropriate. Stakeholders are advised to retain copies of submitted material for record and reference.
