JCB India Achieves 600,000-Machine Milestone

JCB India has reached a significant milestone with the production and sale of its 600,000th machine, underlining more than four decades of contribution to India’s infrastructure growth. The landmark machine is a Backhoe Loader, one of the country’s most widely used construction machines, recognised for its versatility across infrastructure, rural and agricultural applications.

Over the years, JCB India has expanded its manufacturing footprint, strengthened its supplier ecosystem and developed products tailored to local requirements. With six manufacturing facilities in the country, India has emerged as a key global production hub for the company, exporting machines to over 135 countries.

Commenting on the achievement, Deepak Shetty, CEO and Managing Director, JCB India, said the milestone reflects the trust customers have placed in the company over several decades. He noted that the Backhoe Loader has become closely associated with India’s infrastructure and development journey and acknowledged the support of customers, dealers, suppliers and stakeholders, many of whom now represent second and third generations of association with the brand.

JCB Chairman Lord Bamford said the company celebrated its 80th anniversary recently and has been serving customers in India for nearly 50 years. He added that it was fitting that the 600,000th machine sold in the country is a Backhoe Loader, a product that has played a major role in building India’s infrastructure over recent decades.

Shetty added that JCB India remains committed to supporting the country’s infrastructure-led growth through innovation, local manufacturing and skill development. The company is also focused on delivering reliable and fuel-efficient machines that offer higher productivity and lower operating costs.

Aligned with the Government’s Make in India initiative, JCB India continues to invest in manufacturing, engineering, innovation and talent development. The company is also promoting diversity and inclusion, with growing participation of women across manufacturing, engineering and leadership functions.

Through its CSR initiatives, JCB India supports livelihoods and community development, including programmes aimed at helping artisans showcase their craftsmanship and access broader markets.

As India continues to expand its infrastructure network, JCB India aims to support this progress through technology, strong partnerships and a continued emphasis on productivity, sustainability and skills development.

JCB India is a leading manufacturer of earthmoving and construction equipment in India and is an embodiment of the Make in India program. With six state-of-the-art factories in India, the company manufactures a wide range of world-class equipment in India for the domestic market as well as for exports to more than 135 countries. JCB’s factories in India are also amongst the most gender diverse, with 34% women on the shop floor in Jaipur and 52% in Vadodara.

JCB India has a network of more than 64 dealers and 700 outlets spread throughout India, which further employs about 8,000 professionally trained personnel. Given the investments allocated by both state and central governments for building urban and rural infrastructure, JCB takes pride in contributing to nation-building with its strong India-centric product portfolio.
