Lubrizol, Polyhose Open Medical Tubing Facility

Lubrizol and Polyhose have inaugurated a new medical manufacturing facility in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, to produce precision extruded medical tubing for minimally invasive devices.

The facility will support India’s growing medical technology and healthcare sectors by manufacturing tubing used in neurovascular and cardiovascular applications. It will also strengthen regional supply capacity for customers in India and global markets.

Designed as a world-class operation, the ISO13485 facility will provide customers with high-quality medical tubing backed by dedicated quality control and standards aligned with Lubrizol’s global manufacturing network.

Operations will focus on precision extruded tubing made from a range of high-performance materials, including polyamides, nylon, Pebax, polypropylene, polyethylene and Lubrizol’s medical-grade thermoplastic polyurethane.

John Valukas, President, Lubrizol Engineered Materials, said the inauguration marks an important milestone in Lubrizol’s commitment to India and the global medical device industry. He said the facility combines Lubrizol’s medical device expertise with the manufacturing strength of local partners to deliver advanced tubing solutions for life-saving neurovascular and cardiovascular applications.

Abhishek Shrivastava, Managing Director, Lubrizol IMEA, said India is a strategic growth market for Lubrizol and a key hub for manufacturing, R&D and technical services. He added that the Chennai facility is another step towards building a stronger local ecosystem for high-value, technology-driven products.

Mittal Shah, Business Head, Medical Devices IMEA, Lubrizol, said minimally invasive procedures are transforming patient care and high-precision tubing is central to many such devices. He said the Chennai site brings world-class catheter tubing capabilities closer to customers in India and across IMEA.

Shabbir Yusuf Jamnagarwala, Founder and Managing Director, Polyhose, said the collaboration marks a new chapter for Polyhose by combining its manufacturing strengths with Lubrizol’s materials science and medical device expertise. He added that the investment reflects the company’s commitment to innovation, skilled employment and strengthening India’s position as a trusted global hub for advanced medical device manufacturing.

The new site is expected to expand India’s capacity for precision extruded medical tubing, support domestic medical device manufacturing, reduce reliance on imports and improve access to high-quality medical products.
