Indian Naval Ship Tarkash Concludes Port Call In Seychelles

Indian Naval Ship Tarkash (INS Tarkash), a stealth frigate of the Indian Navy, departed Port Victoria, Seychelles, on 15 Jun 2026 after completing a scheduled port call and proceeded on further deployment. The visit formed part of routine bilateral naval interactions aimed at enhancing interoperability and people to people ties.

During the stay the ship undertook a series of professional exchanges, community outreach activities and diplomatic engagements intended to strengthen the long standing friendship and maritime partnership between India and Seychelles. The ship was opened to visitors on 13 Jun 2026 and drew enthusiastic participation from members of the Indian diaspora and the local community, offering them an opportunity to interact with the crew and understand the Indian Navy's role and capabilities. Outreach events included explanations of operational procedures and demonstrations of shipboard facilities for visitors.

The ship's medical team conducted a humanitarian outreach programme that provided first aid and basic medical consultations to elderly members of the local community and distributed essential medicines and food supplies. A cultural evening was hosted onboard and was attended by the Vice President of the Republic of Seychelles, members of the diplomatic corps and representatives of the High Commission of India. Diplomatic interactions during the port call were described by officials as reaffirming mutual commitment to regional security and cooperative maritime initiatives.

The visit emphasised India’s commitment to enhancing maritime cooperation and regional security and supported the vision of Mutual and Holistic Advancement for Security and Growth Across Regions (MAHASAGAR). The port call served both operational and diplomatic objectives and reinforced established channels for naval cooperation, training and humanitarian assistance. INS Tarkash will continue with scheduled deployments in the region as part of ongoing efforts to promote stability and shared maritime interests.
