CNH Expands SES Programme to South India
2026-07-02
CNH has expanded its Sustainable Environment Solution programme across key farming regions in South India to promote sustainable crop residue management through mechanised baling.
The CSR initiative has been introduced in Sindhanoor and Hubli in Karnataka, Gudur Manal in Nellore, Andhra Pradesh, and Lalgudi in Tiruchirappalli, Tamil Nadu. The programme aims to reduce air pollution caused by open-field burning while helping farmers adopt efficient and sustainable alternatives.
The initiative focuses on agricultural extension, farmer training and capacity building. It will deploy complete baling infrastructure, including tractors, balers, rakes and slashers, to provide end-to-end mechanised solutions for farmers. Awareness campaigns, workshops and field demonstrations will support adoption by highlighting the environmental and economic benefits of residue management.
CNH said the programme has already helped bale around 60,000 tonnes of paddy straw since inception, preventing approximately 97,000 tonnes of CO2 emissions. The crop residue is being used for applications such as power generation, methane production, composting, animal feed and biofuel.
The programme has previously been implemented across several regions, including Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Haryana, Bihar, Punjab, Chhattisgarh, Maharashtra and Uttarakhand. Its model in Kallar Majri village, Punjab, which achieved zero stubble burning, was recognised by the Prime Minister during Mann Ki Baat in 2018.
Through the expansion, CNH aims to strengthen environmentally responsible farming practices while creating additional value for farmers through better resource utilisation and potential income from crop residue.
