MoRTH, Eicher Partner to Modernise Delhi-NCR Fleets

The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways and Eicher Trucks & Buses, a business unit of VE Commercial Vehicles, have signed an MoU under the scheme for replacement of old trucks and buses in the Delhi-NCR region.

The partnership aims to accelerate the replacement of older, polluting commercial vehicles with cleaner BS-VI and electric vehicles. The scheme targets BS-IV and earlier emission norm trucks and buses operating in Delhi-NCR, supporting the government’s efforts to improve air quality across the National Capital Region.

Under the MoU, Eicher Trucks & Buses will offer eligible customers an 8 per cent discount on the ex-showroom price of vehicles purchased under the scheme. Beneficiaries may also avail additional incentives related to motor vehicle tax, registration fees, interest subvention and fuel benefits, subject to eligibility.

The initiative will be implemented through a centralised digital platform integrated with MoRTH’s VAHAN database and the vehicle scrapping ecosystem. This will enable verification of eligibility and smoother processing of benefits for commercial vehicle owners.

Eicher said the partnership reinforces its commitment to supporting India’s clean mobility transition by promoting modern, fuel-efficient and sustainable commercial transport solutions. The structure follows the sample news format shared.
