Midea, Hutchison Ports sign pact to strengthen global supply chain Subhead
2026-07-10
Midea Group and Hutchison Port Holdings Ltd have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to strengthen their global supply chain partnership, with an initial focus on improving logistics efficiency, port operations and digital integration.
The agreement, announced at the Shenzhen Port Global Supply Chain High-Quality Development Conference 2026, will see the two companies collaborate over the next two years to enhance maritime logistics and support Midea's expanding international manufacturing and distribution network.
The partnership leverages Midea's growing overseas manufacturing footprint and Hutchison Ports' global terminal network, particularly in Thailand, Indonesia, Egypt, Vietnam and Mexico. According to the companies, the collaboration is expected to improve supply chain resilience while supporting increasing cargo volumes across Hutchison Ports' facilities.
The initial phase will be centred on Yantian International Container Terminals in China. Planned initiatives include digital integration between Midea's business systems and Yantian's terminal operating system to enable real-time data sharing and improve cargo handling efficiency.
The companies will also introduce priority port services during peak shipping seasons to reduce logistics delays and improve cargo movement. In addition, they plan to develop multimodal transport solutions linking inland rail freight with Yantian Port, supported by warehousing, container yard facilities and other logistics services.
The partners said the model developed at Yantian could be extended across Hutchison Ports' international network as part of their broader strategy to build more resilient, digitally enabled and sustainable global supply chains.
