Ground Mobility Systems Backs Electra Mining Forklift Competition

Ground Mobility Systems has been named the Official Ground Mobility Solutions Sponsor for the Forklift Driver Competition at Electra Mining Africa 2026, scheduled from 7–11 September at the Johannesburg Expo Centre, Nasrec, South Africa.

As part of the partnership, the company will provide its Composite Base Rig Mats on a rental basis to create a stable and durable operating surface for the competition. The engineered mat system is designed for rapid deployment, high load-bearing capacity and effective ground protection, helping ensure safe operations for participants and spectators throughout the five-day event.

Organised by Lifting Africa, the Forklift Driver Competition is one of the flagship attractions at Electra Mining Africa, showcasing operator skills while promoting workplace safety and innovation in materials handling.

"Ground conditions are often overlooked, yet they play a vital role in safe forklift operation. We are delighted to welcome Ground Mobility Systems as our Official Ground Mobility Solutions Sponsor," said Surita Marx, Managing Director, Lifting Africa. She added that the company's engineered ground protection solutions would help maintain high safety standards while demonstrating South African innovation.

Ground Mobility Systems specialises in heavy-duty ground mobility and stabilisation solutions for mining, construction, civil engineering, military and aerospace applications. Its Composite Base Rig Mats are available for both sale and rental and are suited for temporary working platforms, crane pads, construction sites and industrial projects.

The company also offers heavy-duty aluminium trackway systems for sale, designed as reusable temporary roadway solutions for mining companies, contractors and industrial operators. Manufactured from high-strength aluminium, the modular panels provide reliable access across soft ground, mud, sand, loose aggregate, waterlogged areas and uneven terrain.

According to the company, up to 50 m of aluminium trackway can be manually installed in less than 10 minutes, enabling faster site access while reducing operational downtime.

Visitors to Electra Mining Africa 2026 will witness the practical application of the Composite Base Rig Mats during the Forklift Driver Competition, highlighting the role of engineered ground stabilisation in improving equipment safety, efficiency and productivity across demanding industrial environments.
