Smiley Monroe Invests Rs 6 Crore in Hosur Facility Expansion

Smiley Monroe has expanded its India operations with a new 24,000 sq ft facility in Hosur, Tamil Nadu, backed by an investment of Rs 6 crore. The expansion aims to increase production capacity, support future growth and strengthen customer service across India and neighbouring markets.

The investment is part of Smiley Monroe’s wider GRIT growth strategy and follows a 40% year-on-year increase in production volumes across the group since 2025. The new facility will double CNC cutting capacity with the installation of a second CNC cutting machine and significantly enhance conveyor belt production capabilities.

The expansion will also increase Smiley Monroe India’s workforce from 20 to 35 employees across production, sales, engineering and purchasing functions. The Hosur facility will play a key role in meeting growing demand from original equipment manufacturers (OEMs), dealers and end users across the region.

Smiley Monroe established its India operations in 2012 to support a key OEM customer. Over the years, the Hosur unit has developed into an important part of the company’s global manufacturing network, supplying more than ten OEM customers along with a growing dealer network.

Chris Monroe, CEO of Smiley Monroe, said, “India has become a hugely important part of our business. What began as an investment to support one customer has grown into a strong operation with real momentum behind it. Demand has continued to build, so this next step felt like the right one.”

“The new facility gives us the room, capability and flexibility we need for the years ahead. It means we can respond faster, increase output and keep delivering the quality and service our customers expect from Smiley Monroe,” he added.

The new factory has been developed with sustainability considerations, with materials sourced locally wherever possible. These include structural steel fabricated near the site, bamboo wall cladding in employee areas and paint manufactured in Hosur. Smiley Monroe also plans to measure embodied and operational carbon emissions at the facility as part of its Giant Leap Sustainability Strategy and net zero pathway targeting 2040.

Prabhu Gopinath, Operations Director at Smiley Monroe India, said the investment will help the company meet rising demand, reduce turnaround times and maintain quality standards. The facility will also create opportunities in precision-cut rubber and plastic components while enhancing conveyor belt manufacturing capabilities.

With manufacturing facilities in Northern Ireland, the USA and India, Smiley Monroe continues to invest in technology, people and regional manufacturing capabilities to support customers across key markets.
