Smiley Monroe Invests Rs 6 Crore in Hosur Facility Expansion

Smiley Monroe has expanded its India operations with a new 24,000 sq ft manufacturing facility in Hosur, Tamil Nadu, backed by an investment of Rs 6 crore. The facility aims to increase production capacity, support future expansion plans and strengthen customer service across India and neighbouring markets.

The expansion follows a 40% year-on-year increase in production volumes across the Smiley Monroe Group since 2025 and aligns with the company’s GRIT growth strategy. The new facility will double CNC cutting capacity with the installation of an additional CNC cutting machine and significantly enhance conveyor belt production capabilities.

The expansion will also increase Smiley Monroe India’s workforce from 20 to 35 employees across production, sales, engineering and purchasing functions.

Smiley Monroe established its India operations in 2012 to support a key original equipment manufacturer (OEM) customer. Over the years, the Hosur facility has developed into an important part of the company’s global manufacturing network, supplying more than ten OEM customers along with dealers and end users across the region.

Chris Monroe, CEO of Smiley Monroe, said that India has become a significant market for the company, with the new facility providing greater capacity, flexibility and capability to meet growing customer demand.

The new facility has been designed with sustainability considerations, including locally sourced materials such as structural steel fabricated near the site, bamboo wall cladding in employee areas and paint manufactured in Hosur. Smiley Monroe will also measure embodied and operational carbon emissions at the facility as part of its Giant Leap Sustainability Strategy and net zero pathway targeting 2040.

Prabhu Gopinath, Operations Director at Smiley Monroe India, said the investment will help reduce turnaround times, strengthen conveyor belt production and create new opportunities in precision-cut rubber and plastic components.

With manufacturing facilities in Northern Ireland, the USA and India, Smiley Monroe continues to expand its regional manufacturing capabilities to support customers across global markets. The company supplies endless conveyor belts and cut rubber and plastic parts for material processing equipment used in sectors including crushing, screening, recycling and road construction.
