High Capacity EV Charging Station Opens At New Ashok Nagar

The facility, described by NCRTC as among the largest public ultra-fast EV charging stations in Delhi, features 14 digital charging points, including seven 240 kW chargers, four 360 kW ultra-fast chargers and three 480 kW ultra-fast chargers designed for heavy-duty electric vehicles. The station can cater to multiple private and commercial electric vehicles, including electric buses, simultaneously, and it is equipped with advanced safety and monitoring systems. Users can locate and access the facility through a mobile application provided by the corporation, facilitating integration with the Namo Bharat service.

NCRTC noted that the station will enable commuters using private EVs to charge their vehicles while using the Namo Bharat service and will benefit residents of nearby areas. The corporation added that improved access to charging infrastructure is expected to encourage greater adoption of electric vehicles and to support the operation of commercial fleets on the corridor. With the commissioning of the New Ashok Nagar facility, NCRTC now operates EV charging stations at nine Namo Bharat stations, including Sahibabad, Guldhar, Duhai, Muradnagar, Modinagar South, Modinagar North, Meerut South, Anand Vihar and New Ashok Nagar.

The corporation reiterated that environmental sustainability has remained a focus since the inception of the Namo Bharat project, citing initiatives such as the use of renewable energy, energy-efficient infrastructure and measures to strengthen last-mile connectivity. NCRTC previously commissioned a high-capacity EV charging station at the Anand Vihar Namo Bharat station and intends to continue adding facilities to support corridor operations. The new station is designed to serve both commuter convenience and the broader objective of modal shift to electric mobility.
