Saint-Gobain, CEPT partner on sustainable construction

Saint-Gobain and CEPT University have entered into a strategic partnership to establish a Tech Commons Centre aimed at advancing research, innovation and skill development in sustainable and energy-efficient construction.

The centre will serve as a platform for building science research, prototyping, industry collaboration and knowledge exchange, bringing together Saint-Gobain's expertise in sustainable construction and CEPT's capabilities in education and research. The collaboration will focus on sustainability, energy efficiency, climate resilience and wellbeing in the built environment.

According to Saint-Gobain, its building solutions can reduce energy consumption in buildings by up to 40 per cent, while improving thermal comfort, indoor air quality, acoustics, fire safety and durability.

The Tech Commons Centre will include four specialised hubs covering Building Science and Climate Resilience, Urban Intelligence and Digital Twins, Computational Design and Visualisation, and Communications and Media.

Sreedhar N., Senior Vice-President and Chief Executive Officer – Asia Pacific and India Region, Saint-Gobain, said the partnership will provide architecture students with practical exposure to sustainable construction technologies suited to India's needs. Barjor Mehta, President, CEPT University, said the initiative will strengthen collaboration between academia and industry while advancing research in sustainable building practices.

The partnership aims to support the adoption of low-energy, climate-resilient building solutions aligned with India's net-zero and sustainable development goals.
