Jammu airport?s impressive revamp! What are the new additions?

The Jammu airport has got three new aerobridges, an apron and taxi link to provide better facilities for air passengers and airplanes. As reported, the aerobridges are supposed to provide better boarding conditions by facilitating direct entry and exit to and from the aircraft, with enhanced comfort in all-weather conditions.

The aerobridges have reportedly been constructed at a cost of Rs 62.5 million by the Airports Authority of India. The burden on the ground floor security hold area will reduce as the security hold area on the first floor will be put to use and also the boarding gates have increased from two to five. This will help in boarding and de-boarding of fove planes at the same time, with ample space for waiting passengers.

Separate escalators and elevators have also come up for arriving and departing passengers which are convenient for the physically challenged and visually impaired. The taxi link has reportedly been built at a cost of Rs 50 million. This will link the remote parking bays with runway, and decrease the runway occupancy time for the aircraft, facilitating smooth flow of traffic.

As reported, Jammu airport?s aircraft parking capacity has increased from six to seven and two additional dedicated parking bays for helicopters have also been added. The AAI is reportedly trying to improve the passenger experience and has asked for passenger co-operation in maintaining the facilities.
