Being the construction partner, NBCC will be charging 7.5 per cent of the total project cost and will work as a Project Management Consultancy (PMC). Along with Niger, NBCC will be also constructing eight more MGICC across the African countries such as Uganda, Malawi, Zambia, Liberia, Gambia, Burkina Faso, Togo, and Gabon worth Rs 20 billion. NBCC assured that building convention centres on international land will enable Indian engineers and other employees posted there to get acquainted with modern construction technologies.
In the line of Prime Minister Narendra Modi?s vision for a prosperous and integrated and united Africa, state-owned NBCC has taken up this initiative. During the Third India-Africa Forum Summit, which was held in Delhi in December 2015, the idea to construct MGICC was taken by MEA. For over five years, India has offered a concessional credit of USD 10 billion with a grant assistance of USD 600 million to create 100 capacity building institutions, public transport, manufacturing capacity, clean energy, irrigation, agriculture and developing infrastructure across Africa.
With its international offices in countries like Oman, Maldives, Turkey, Mauritius and Botswana, NBCC has executed many projects and made its presence in the overseas market such as Mauritius, Nepal, Maldives, Libya, Iraq, Yemen, Turkey and Botswana for nearly 37 years. In its statement, NBCC showed its interest in planning to scout for further business in these countries.
