Larsen and Turbo bags order to construct Navi Mumbai International Airport

Navi Mumbai International Airport (NMIAPL) has awarded the construction arm of Larsen and Turbo (L&T) the contract for developing the upcoming international airport. 

Reportedly, although L&T did not disclose the value of the contract it is estimated that since the order falls in the ?major? category - it would be somewhere between Rs 50 billion and Rs 70 billion as per the company?s classification of contracts.

L&T Construction will be in charge of engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) of the greenfield airport.

The key development spectrum covers cut and fill works, terminal work including departure and arrival forecourts, airfield development works, landside facilities and other utilities and support facilities.

Currently, to start with, the passenger terminus is being constructed to handle a capacity of 10 million passengers per annum (MPA). This will eventually be increased to accommodate 20 MPA.
