NTPC records increased power generation in June quarter

The production of energy by the state-run power firm NTPC increased by 21.7 per cent in the April–June quarter of the current fiscal year to 104.4 billion units (BU). The NTPC group of enterprises created 104.4 BU in the April to June 2022 quarter, increasing 21.7 per cent from the 85.8 BU produced in the comparable quarter the previous year.

Power generation in June 2022 was 34.8 BU, up 29.3 per cent from June 2021's 26.9 BU total. This rise reflects increased performance and rising energy demand in the current year.

The best-performing thermal power plant between April and June 2022 is the NTPC Talcher Kaniha (3000 MW) in Orissa, with a Plant Load Factor (PLF or capacity utilisation) of 94.2 per cent.

An indication of NTPC's high levels of operational excellence and its proficiency in the operation and maintenance of power plants is that the overall Plant Load Factor of its coal stations increased from April to June 2022 from 69 to 80 per cent.
