South India's tallest rail-road flyover almost ready

The Jayadeva Intersection's Marehanahalli Road's tallest rail-road flyover in South India is nearly finished, and finishing work is currently being done on the road.

Its ability to reduce traffic at the Central Silk Board Junction, one of Bengaluru's main chokepoints, won't, however, take effect right away.

The flyover cannot be opened to traffic until the ramps leading to it are prepared, according to senior Metro authorities. The Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) is building the flyover between Ragigudda and Central Silk Board as part of the RV Road-Bommasandra Metro line (Reach-5), which is expected to open in December of this year.

The flyover is two layers high, with the first layer containing four lanes and the second tier housing the Metro trains. The flyover is the tallest in South India and is 3.2 kilometers in length and 31 meters in height. Although the flyover is currently ready, a top official stated that it can only be opened up before the line launches due to the delay in ramp building. When ready, it would offer easy access to Electronic City and HSR Layout. The Outer Ring Road project and the delayed contract were given to AFCONS Infrastructure Limited.

"The work's original contractor, who was meant to finish it, abandoned it. It was put out to tender again, and AFCONS is handling it.

However, because of the delayed start, the project will take some time to finish.
