Pynursla Bypass landowners agree to vital road link, await approval

In a positive development, the landowners of the Pynursla Bypass, part of package III in the Shillong-Dawki Road project, have agreed to contribute their land for the crucial road link. Prestone Tynsong, the Deputy Chief Minister in charge of PWD (Roads), revealed that the initial survey of the area had been temporarily halted. Subsequently, the government urged the landowners to cooperate, emphasising the project's significance. The community and landowners ultimately agreed to provide their land, and the final alignment of the Pynursla Bypass has been submitted to the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways and the National Highway Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited for approval.

Addressing the deteriorating condition of National Highway 6, Tynsong informed that he had already briefed the Secretary of MoRTH about the highway's state, with ongoing maintenance efforts in progress. Responding to concerns about frequent landslides near the Sonapur tunnel, he mentioned that the Secretary of MoRTH and a team from the National Highways Authority of India would inspect the area before the monsoon season.

Emphasising the necessity of completing a detailed survey for the proposed Jowai-Malidor four-lane project, Tynsong clarified that efforts are underway to promptly clear debris whenever landslides occur in the area, highlighting the current absence of an alternative solution until the survey is completed. ?
