Railway projects worth Rs 13.168 billion in progress in Himachal Pradesh

Himachal Pradesh has railway projects worth Rs 13.168 billion in progress, aimed at consolidating and improving the railway network and infrastructure, as announced by the Governor, Shiv Pratap Shukla.

Shukla shared this information on February 26, 2024, at an event held at Baijnath Paprola railway station in Kangra district. He also mentioned that the station will undergo renovation under the ?Amrit Bharat? scheme in anticipation of the increased tourist influx in Shiv Bhoomi Baijnath.

Prime Minister Modi spearheaded the redevelopment of 554 stations and 1,585 road overbridges and underpasses nationwide, with the HP Governor in attendance at the virtual inauguration.

The Governor confirmed that a budget of Rs 2.081 billion has been allocated for the Fiscal year 2024-2025 for railway development to improve travel convenience. Additionally, introducing the Vande Bharat Train in Himachal Pradesh has significantly enhanced travel convenience and speed.

Himachal Pradesh is revitalising its railway infrastructure. The Amb-Andaura railway station is being redeveloped with modern facilities. The state has two narrow gauge heritage lines, with Kalka Shimla being a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
