Madurai's TNSTC acquires 39 BS6 buses

The 39 buses destined to be part of the TNSTC fleet in the Madurai division were jointly flagged off by Commercial Taxes Minister . Moorthy and Transport Minister SS Sivasankar. Following this, the newly constructed Motor Inspector office and the Madurai South Regional Transport Office (RTO office) in Madurai district were inaugurated by them.

During a press interaction, the Transport Minister conveyed that among the 39 buses, 36 had undergone refurbishment and were equipped with BS VI engines, while three were entirely new. He added that over time, all recently acquired buses for various TNSTC divisions in Tamil Nadu would be integrated into the fleet. Responding to inquiries about the Kilambakkam bus stand in Chennai, the Transport Minister clarified that there were no issues with its operations post the Pongal festival.

The Motor Inspector office in Melur had been constructed at a cost of Rs 20.5 million, and the South Regional Transport Office, situated near Melakuyilkudi in Madurai district, had incurred a construction cost of Rs 30.8 million.

In a show of gratitude, Sivasankar honored seven drivers from TNSTC, Madurai division, with 4g gold coins each for maintaining exceptional safety records and driving accident-free for 25 years. Additionally, 284 drivers were awarded 100g of silver coins each for their commendable 10-year accident-free driving tenure.
