BMRCL Commences Land Acquisition for Namma Metro Phase 3

The Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) has initiated the land acquisition process for Namma Metro Phase 3, beginning with 26,811 square meters for the stretch between JP Nagar Phase 4 and Mysuru Road Metro Station.

Phase 3 will feature multiple key interchange stations, including Peenya and JP Nagar on the Green Line, Mysuru Road on the Purple Line, and Sumanahalli on the Hosahalli-Kadabagere route. JP Nagar Phase 4 will also link the Pink Line at Bannerghatta Road, while Hebbal will serve as an interchange for the Blue Line (airport route) and Red Line (Hebbal-Sarjapur route).

The project comprises two corridors:

Corridor 1: Spanning 32.15 km from JP Nagar Phase 4 to Kempapura, requiring 1,29,743 square meters of land and impacting 777 private properties, with an estimated acquisition cost of Rs 19 billion.
Corridor 2: Covering 12.5 km from Hosahalli to Kadabagere.

The estimated cost of Phase 3 is Rs 156.11 billion, funded through loans (Rs 75.77 billion), revenue from advertising, and station naming rights (Rs 4.5 billion). It will feature a double-decker viaduct to minimise disruptions to existing infrastructure. By 2028, the network is expected to serve 728,000 daily passengers with 252 metro coaches.

Geotechnical investigations have begun on Magadi Road, focusing on soil testing between Mysuru Road and Kanteerava Studio Stations in Phase 1, and Hosahalli to Kadabagere Depot in Phase 2. Studies for stretches between Kanteerava Studio and Kempapura, as well as JP Nagar Phase 4 to Mysuru Road, are also planned. The investigations, costing Rs 54.9 billion, are set to conclude in five months.

The land acquisition process for the JP Nagar Phase 4 to Mysuru Road section involves key areas, including Nainappashetti Palya (1,830.87 sqm), Bilekahalli (1,499.32 sqm), Sarakki (5,187.31 sqm), and Jaraganahalli (4,556.46 sqm), among others. Additional land parcels include Hosakerehalli (3,670.09 sqm), Pantharapalya (1,872.31 sqm), and Nayandahalli (5,289.03 sqm).
