Railways Approves Four-Line Corridor in Rayalaseema

The corridor will span about 307.97 km and is intended to ease congestion and improve passenger and freight movement across Rayalaseema.

Rail traffic in the region has risen by over 35 per cent in recent years and the section currently operates on a double line.

The conversion to four tracks is intended to create dedicated paths for both passenger and freight services to reduce interference.

It will connect key stations including Renigunta, Railway Koduru, Rajampet, Kadapa, Yerraguntla, Tadipatri, Gooty and Guntakal to increase route capacity.

The upgrade is expected to benefit districts including Tirupati, Kadapa, Annamayya and Anantapur by enabling more trains and reducing delays.

Officials say the project will provide faster and safer travel while supporting regional economic growth and improved connectivity.

South Central Railway has initiated land acquisition and district authorities have been directed to expedite the process.

Projected additional passenger traffic is estimated at between 50,000 and 70,000 per day, which is expected to increase demand for services and freight capacity.
