Delhi Orders Sewage Audit to Clean Yamuna

During a review meeting with the Delhi Jal Board’s sewage management team, Verma evaluated the current STP capacities and progress on enhancement projects. Currently, 18 STPs are being upgraded and two new plants are under construction, aiming to increase treatment capacity by 47 million gallons daily.
To support these efforts, the Delhi government has earmarked Rs 5 billion for STP restorations and an additional Rs 2.5 billion for modernising aging sewer lines. Verma highlighted that the audit will be crucial for mapping the system’s performance and boosting sewage treatment efficiency, paving the way for cleaner waterways in the national capital.
