Tata Communications Boosts Asia Connectivity With New Subsea Cable

Tata Communications, a global leader in communications technology, has announced the integration of the TGN-IA2 submarine cable system into its existing network. Developed by the Asia Direct Cable (ADC) consortium, the new cable represents a major advancement in network capacity, speed, and reliability for businesses across Asia and beyond.

The TGN-IA2 cable is designed to deliver seamless connectivity, scalable bandwidth, and high-capacity data transfer across multiple routes. It will benefit enterprises, hyperscalers, and service providers by offering diverse and resilient connectivity through a single, integrated provider within the Intra-Asia region.

What sets TGN-IA2 apart is Tata Communications’ independent ownership and control over end-to-end capacity upgrades — enabling faster provisioning, greater business agility, and seamless scalability. The cable system will also interconnect with Tata Communications' global infrastructure, linking Asia to key regions including the US, Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA), and India.

The integration brings tangible benefits for high-performance sectors like financial services, e-commerce, and logistics, as well as businesses requiring low-latency data centre connectivity, AI-driven operations, and high-definition streaming. Key advantages include:

  • Lower latency for faster internet and application speeds
  • Improved network reliability and redundancy
  • Expanded global reach and intercontinental continuity
  • Enhanced support for future-ready digital services

Genius Wong, Executive Vice President – Core and Next-Gen Connectivity Services and Chief Technology Officer at Tata Communications, said:

“TGN-IA2 is a future-focused foundation for global enterprises. It reinforces our commitment to building smart, secure, and scalable infrastructure to meet rising connectivity demands. Whether you're a cloud provider entering Asia or an MNC scaling globally, our enhanced network fabric delivers the performance and reach your business needs.”

With this development, Tata Communications strengthens its position as a key enabler of cross-border digital transformation, reinforcing Asia’s role in the global digital economy
