JSW Infra Set to Secure Rs 8.32 billion Container Terminal Deal

JSW Infrastructure, the port operations arm of the JSW Group, is poised to secure a major contract worth Rs 8.32 billion to develop a container terminal at New Mangalore Port. The agreement, expected imminently, would grant JSW the rights to build and operate a state-of-the-art terminal under a long-term concession model, reflecting the company’s continued push into container handling and integrated logistics.

This project marks JSW Infra’s foray into container operations at Mangalore, further expanding its already robust presence across key Indian ports. With plans to mechanise the terminal and enhance capacity, the company is targeting a throughput of approximately 500,000 twenty-foot equivalent units (TEUs) per annum over the course of the concession.

Under the agreement, JSW Infra will invest in infrastructure including quay construction, yard mechanisation and allied logistics systems. The terminal is expected to serve as a gateway for regional trade and support hinterland connectivity through rail and road networks. It aligns with JSW Infra’s strategic goal of diversifying its cargo mix and increasing the share of third-party customers alongside its group business.

The anticipated award follows JSW Infra’s successful record, including the commissioning of its terminal at New Mangalore and its leadership in private port operations. This addition will further enhance the company's credentials in handling containerised cargo and positioning it as a key player in India’s expanding maritime ecosystem.

By expanding its terminal portfolio and capacity, JSW Infrastructure is reinforcing its vision to build a resilient and integrated logistics hub—supporting domestic growth while strengthening India's position in global trade networks.
