U.P. Clears Rs 47.75 Billion Agra-Purvanchal Link Expressway

Lucknow, 3 July 2025 – The Uttar Pradesh Cabinet, chaired by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, has approved a Rs 47.75 billion greenfield expressway that will link the Agra-Lucknow Expressway with the Purvanchal Expressway.
Spanning nearly 50 kilometres, the new route will be a six-lane controlled-access carriageway, with provisions to expand it to eight lanes in the future, according to an official release.
Strategic Connectivity Across Key Corridors
Industrial Development Minister Nand Gopal Gupta 'Nandi' stated that the upcoming expressway will integrate major expressway corridors, including:
Agra-Lucknow Expressway
Purvanchal Expressway
Ganga Expressway (under construction)
Bundelkhand Expressway
Gorakhpur Link Expressway
The aim is to enhance intra-state connectivity between major cities such as Lucknow, Agra, Kanpur, Prayagraj, Varanasi, and Ghazipur.
Boost to Logistics and Regional Growth
The proposed network is envisioned as part of U.P.’s expanding expressway grid, aimed at delivering rapid and seamless travel, while accelerating logistics efficiency and stimulating regional development.
According to officials, the project aligns with the state’s broader plan to promote industrial investment, trade access, and mobility infrastructure.
