Amaravati Projects Worth Rs 813.17 Billion Proposed

The Andhra Pradesh Capital Region Development Authority (CRDA) has proposed projects worth Rs 813.17 billion for the development of the greenfield capital city of Amaravati, with tenders already issued for works valued at Rs 505.52 billion.

Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu reviewed the progress of Amaravati’s construction at the Secretariat in a meeting attended by Municipal Minister P Narayana, senior officials, and contractors. Officials informed him that construction had begun on 74 projects, covering housing, public buildings, roads, ducts, flood control, and other key infrastructure.

Naidu instructed officials to complete the works six months ahead of schedule and reviewed progress in areas under the land pooling scheme (LPS), including residences for ministers, MLAs, officials, employees, and judges. On returnable plots to farmers, he directed that measures be taken to avoid inconveniencing landowners while safeguarding Amaravati’s master plan.

He also called for expedited approvals for agencies wishing to establish offices in the city, particularly institutions such as BITS Pilani and XLRI. Stressing the need for active development beyond land allocation, Naidu urged continuous monitoring of 72 organisations granted land in the capital region to ensure follow-up investments.

The CM highlighted opportunities across sectors including Sport City, tourism, airport infrastructure, biotechnology, education, and healthcare, and instructed officials to invite India’s top 10 real estate firms to undertake projects. He reiterated his vision of Amaravati as a green energy corridor, promoting electric vehicles and monitoring air quality across the seed capital, capital city, and capital area zones.
