Maharashtra Govt Prioritises Eco-Friendly Bridge Construction

The Maharashtra government has announced that all future bridge projects in the state will follow eco-friendly and sustainable construction norms. The move is aimed at balancing rapid infrastructure growth with environmental conservation.

Officials from the Public Works Department (PWD) stated that project designs will now integrate measures to minimise ecological disruption, ensure efficient waste management, and use green construction materials. Environmental clearances will be fast-tracked for projects that meet sustainability benchmarks.

The new approach aligns with the state’s broader push for climate-resilient infrastructure and responsible urban development. It underscores Maharashtra’s commitment to adopting modern, sustainable practices in public construction works across major cities and rural areas alike.
