L Walter excavating boosts quarry efficiency

Ontario-based L Walter & Sons Excavating has strengthened its operations with the addition of the Liebherr R 992 crawler excavator, a powerhouse designed for the most demanding environments. The company, which operates a solid rock quarry in southern Canada, faces particularly tough conditions—extracting heavy materials with a density of 2.2 t/m³, large-size blocks, and abrasive rock. For such a setting, the R 992 proved to be the ideal strategic investment.

The R 992’s main role at the site is to load 40-tonne articulated dump trucks, achieving full loads in just three passes—a testament to its exceptional power and efficiency. Its class-leading breakout force and fast cycle times allow the company to streamline production flows, minimise truck waiting times, and lower operating costs.
