CM Inaugurates Rs 3.7 Billion Vilholi Water Treatment Plant in Nashik

Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis inaugurated the Nashik Municipal Corporation’s 274 MLD Vilholi Water Treatment Plant and the upgraded Mukane water supply scheme, a Rs 3.7 billion project designed to provide a reliable and sustainable water supply to more than 55 lakh residents. The system will also cater to over 1 crore visitors expected during the 2027 Simhastha Kumbh Mela.

Funded partly through Rs 2 billion Green Sustainable Bonds, the project strengthens Nashik’s long-term water security, ensures year-round availability, and enhances the city’s preparedness for peak tourist inflow. It is also expected to support local employment and tourism-driven economic activity.

“This project reflects our commitment to ensuring water security and sustainable growth for Nashik,” said Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis.

Planned for full readiness before the 2027 Kumbh Mela, the initiative supports Nashik’s vision of becoming a model smart and water-secure city.

Manisha Khatri, Commissioner and Administrator, Nashik Municipal Corporation, said the city aims to reduce Non-Revenue Water from 45 per cent to 27 per cent, and ultimately to 5 per cent, through upgraded pipelines, efficiency improvements, and advanced SCADA automation. She added that these measures will ensure consistent, high-quality water supply and position Nashik as a benchmark for urban water management in India.
