Adani Total Gas Clarifies Battery Project Not Its Own

In a regulatory filing, the company said: “The news article titled ‘Adani plans India’s biggest battery storage in Gujarat’ does not pertain to the operations or business activities of the Company.”

On Tuesday, the Gautam Adani-led Adani Group announced its entry into the battery energy storage systems (BESS) sector with a 1,126 MW / 3,530 MWh project at Khavda in Gujarat, home to the world’s largest renewable energy park.

Set to become India’s biggest and one of the world’s largest single-site BESS installations, the project is expected to be commissioned by March. The site will house more than 700 BESS containers and will incorporate advanced energy management systems to improve efficiency and reliability.

The Adani Group said the initiative represents a significant step in India’s clean energy transition, supporting reduced transmission congestion, easing peak load pressures and lowering solar curtailment—key hurdles in large-scale renewable integration. The conglomerate has not disclosed the investment outlay for the project.

Gautam Adani said energy storage is central to a renewable-led future, noting that the project sets new global standards while reinforcing the group’s commitment to India’s energy independence and sustainability.

Following this flagship deployment, the group aims to scale storage capacity to 15 GWh by FY27 and 50 GWh within five years, positioning itself as a major global player in clean energy storage.

Shares of Adani Total Gas Ltd rose by 1.36 per cent to close at Rs 621.10 on Wednesday on the BSE.
