TPREL Commissions NHPC’s 300 MW Solar Project in Rajasthan

Beyond the 300 MW NHPC project, TPREL is also contributing to Rajasthan’s evolving clean-energy landscape by supplying DCR-compliant cells and modules for SJVN’s 1 GW development and NLC’s 300 MW project—both set for commissioning and positioned to become major renewable milestones. The plant is equipped with high-efficiency solar modules manufactured by TP Solar Limited in Tirunelveli, reinforcing the emphasis on domestic manufacturing and sustainable energy development.

Developed by TPREL and owned by NHPC, the large-scale solar plant supplies its entire output to PSPCL. Over its operational lifetime, it is expected to generate around 17.23 billion units of green electricity.

Engineering Excellence in Challenging Terrain

The project stands out for its robust engineering and innovative execution in one of India’s toughest locations. Despite harsh temperatures and restricted vehicular movement, the TPREL team achieved timely completion using advanced technologies such as DCR cells, bifacial DCR modules, precision ramming and high-performance inverters capable of withstanding extreme heat. Approximately 775,000 modules were installed for the project.

Socio-Economic Impact

More than 300 local workers were employed during construction, and several local vendors were developed in the process, contributing to livelihoods and boosting the local economy.

With this commissioning, TPREL further cements its role as a preferred partner for large-scale renewable projects in India, providing clean, reliable and sustainable energy to major utilities. The project aligns with India’s targets of achieving 500 GW of non-fossil fuel capacity by 2030 and reaching net-zero emissions by 2070.

TPREL has now commissioned more than 4.9 GW of third-party projects, including over 980 MW delivered in the current financial year, highlighting its rapid execution capability.

With this project, TPREL’s total renewable utility portfolio has reached 11.6 GW. Of this, 5.8 GW is operational—comprising 4.7 GW of solar and 1.1 GW of wind energy—while another 5.8 GW is under implementation, evenly split between 3 GW of solar and 2.8 GW of wind projects.
