DMRC Begins Work On Lajpat Nagar–Saket Phase IV Corridor
The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has commenced construction on the Lajpat Nagar–Saket G Block corridor under Phase IV, marking the first section beyond the project’s priority corridors where physical work has begun.
The elevated corridor forms part of the Golden Line (Line 11) and will feature eight stations: Lajpat Nagar, Andrews Ganj, Greater Kailash-1, Chirag Delhi, Pushpa Bhawan, Saket District Centre, Pushp Vihar and Saket G Block. Once operational, the line is expected to significantly enhance metro connectivity across key parts of South Delhi.
According to DMRC, the corridor will serve major residential and commercial hubs including Greater Kailash, Saket and Pushp Vihar, while also improving access to government offices and public institutions located along the alignment. Improved connectivity is expected to benefit several government schools in the area, reducing reliance on road-based transport for students and the working population.
The new corridor will integrate with the Magenta Line at Chirag Delhi and with the Violet and Pink Lines at Lajpat Nagar. With these connections, Lajpat Nagar is set to become a triple interchange station, offering passengers greater route flexibility and smoother inter-line transfers across the metro network.
DMRC officials said tendering and other pre-construction activities are also progressing for the Inderlok–Indraprastha and Rithala–Narela corridors under Phase IV. The first test pile and ground-breaking ceremony for the Lajpat Nagar–Saket G Block corridor was held near Pushpa Bhawan in Saket, attended by DMRC Managing Director Vikas Kumar along with senior officials from DMRC and Rail Vikas Nigam Limited (RVNL), the contractor for this stretch.
