Three Firms Bid for Interim Consultant Role of Mumbai Metro Line 11

Mumbai Metro Rail Corporation (MMRC) has received three bids for the interim consultant contract of Mumbai Metro Line 11, also known as the Green Line, marking progress in the preparatory phase of the upcoming underground corridor.

Mumbai Metro Line 11 is planned as an 18-km fully underground corridor running from Anik Bus Depot to Gateway of India, with 14 underground stations along the route. Over the past year, MMRC has continued to refine the project’s alignment, resulting in a revised station plan. The latest configuration reduces the number of stations from 16 to 14, with stations earlier proposed at Crawford Market and Coal Bunder removed from the alignment as part of the optimisation exercise.

The three firms that have submitted bids for the interim consultancy contract are Oriental Consultants Global Co, PADECO Co, and SYSTRA MVA Consulting (India). The scope of the tender involves the selection of an interim consultant for the Anik Depot–Gateway of India stretch of Metro Line 11.

According to MMRC, the interim consultancy will be for a short duration of six months. During this period, the appointed consultant will support the corporation in initiating early pre-construction activities for the project. A key responsibility will be the preparation of tender documents for major consultancy packages that will remain valid through the full implementation phase of Mumbai Metro Line 11.

The tender process has now moved to the technical evaluation stage, where the submitted bids are being scrutinised. This phase is expected to take several weeks, following which the financial bids of technically qualified bidders will be opened to determine the lowest bidder for the contract.

Once completed, Mumbai Metro Line 11 will become the city’s third fully underground metro corridor, after Metro Line 3 (Aqua Line) and Line 7A (Red Line), further strengthening east–south connectivity in Mumbai’s metro network.
