Italian Pavilion at IMTEX 2026 Boosts India–Italy Manufacturing Ties

Held from 21–25 January in Bengaluru, IMTEX 2026 brought together global machine tool manufacturers, metal fabricators and industrial stakeholders. The Italian Pavilion in Hall 5 hosted four Italian companies showcasing metal-forming machine tools, with emphasis on automation, precision engineering and digitally enabled manufacturing systems.

With capital expenditure rising across India’s manufacturing sector, particularly in automotive, aerospace, electronics and heavy engineering, the pavilion acted as a strategic interface between Indian buyers and Italian suppliers. Italy emerged as India’s second-largest supplier of metal-forming machine tools in 2025, with exports valued at EUR 85 million and a market share of 10.14 per cent, highlighting the strengthening role of Italian companies in India’s industrial supply chains.

The pavilion was closely aligned with OpportunItaly, the business acceleration programme promoted by the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation and the Italian Trade Agency. Launched in 2025, the digital platform supports business matching, lead generation and market entry services across 20 international markets and 10 strategic sectors, including mechanics and automation, automotive, aerospace, sustainable infrastructure and energy.

Industry representatives said the initiative reflects a convergence between India’s demand for high-precision, technology-intensive manufacturing and Italy’s strengths in customised machinery and advanced engineering, enabling partnerships that extend beyond trade fairs into long-term commercial collaboration.
