Caterpillar Unveils Advanced Engines at CONEXPO-CON/AGG 2026

Caterpillar recently showcased its latest industrial power systems and lifecycle solutions at CONEXPO-CON/AGG 2026, highlighting new engines, digital connectivity tools and aftermarket services designed to support productivity across construction jobsites.

At its South Hall stand, the company presented the first showing of a high-horsepower Cat C3.6 engine delivering up to 173 hp (129 kW) along with the new power-dense C13D engine platform. Both engines meet EU Stage V and U.S. EPA Tier 4 Final emissions standards and are designed to deliver higher torque, improved uptime and reduced operating costs across a range of equipment.

The exhibit also highlighted Caterpillar’s strategy of extending engine lifecycles through aftermarket support solutions, including Cat parts and services, connectivity tools, condition monitoring and service replacement engines. Digital platforms such as VisionLink enable real-time equipment monitoring and proactive diagnostics to improve productivity and minimise downtime.

A deconstructed Cat Reman C7 engine demonstrated the company’s remanufacturing approach, which restores components to like-new performance while reducing waste and operational costs. These fully assembled engines are tested and tuned to deliver high fuel efficiency and reliability.

Additional engines displayed in the Festival Lot included the compact C2.2 producing 74 hp (55 kW), the upgraded C3.6 with 173 hp (129 kW), and the twin-turbocharged C18TT engine delivering 800 hp (597 kW) for heavy-duty industrial applications.

The new C13D platform offers eight power ratings from 456 to 690 hp (340–515 kW) and peak torque of up to 3,200 Nm. Designed for demanding off-highway equipment such as crushers, agricultural machinery and material-handling systems, the engine provides up to 20 per cent higher power and up to 25 per cent greater low-speed torque compared with earlier models.

Caterpillar also showcased the C9.3B diesel engine integrated with a diesel-electric power unit capable of delivering secondary power for applications such as crushers and screeners. The diesel-electric solution, offering outputs between 52 and 600 kVA across the C3.6 to C13 range, is expected to be available from late 2026.

Together with its global dealer network and rental solutions, Caterpillar emphasised a comprehensive ecosystem of equipment, power systems and services aimed at improving machine performance, uptime and lifecycle value across construction fleets.
