Liebherr Reports Stable Growth in 2025

The Liebherr Group delivered stable growth in the 2025 business year, reporting total revenue of €14,772 million, supported by its diversified portfolio and decentralised operating structure. Growth across several technology-driven segments helped offset a slowdown in construction machinery and mining-related businesses.

Revenue from segments including maritime cranes, aerospace and transportation systems, gear technology and automation systems, refrigerators and freezers, components and hotels rose 14.7 per cent year on year to €5,427 million. In contrast, the construction machine and mining segment recorded a 5.5 per cent decline to €9,345 million, despite gains in deep foundation machines and tower cranes.

Regionally, performance remained uneven. Declines were observed in Asia and Oceania as well as North America. In Europe, revenue growth in EU countries, particularly Germany, offset weaker performance in non-EU markets. Growth was also recorded in Central and South America and in the Africa and Middle East region, led by South Africa and the UAE.

The Group reported a net income of €272 million. While operating profit declined compared to the previous year, improved financial results supported overall profitability. Liebherr’s workforce expanded to 55,963 employees globally, an increase of 1,235 year on year.

Investment remained a key focus area. Liebherr allocated €708 million towards research and development, advancing autonomy, electrification and digitalisation. At Bauma 2025, the company showcased an autonomous wheel loader equipped with its ‘Liebherr Autonomous Operations’ system, along with the S1 Vision prototype — a battery-electric, single-axle dump truck. Autonomous mining solutions are also nearing deployment.

The Group expanded its electrified equipment portfolio with products such as the HS 8100.2 dual power crawler crane and the R 920 G8-E battery-electric crawler excavator. Hybrid-powered crane solutions and the LPO 600 battery-based energy storage system further support electrified construction sites.

Digital innovation also progressed, with new assistance systems for cranes and the Energy Planner software enabling efficient energy management on job sites. Liebherr continues to develop a standardised software framework under its ‘Software Defined Machine’ programme, alongside strengthening its cyber security and AI capabilities.

In addition to technology investments, Liebherr invested €1,059 million in expanding production facilities and logistics infrastructure. Key developments include land acquisition in Ehingen-Berg, Germany, capacity expansion in Bulgaria and Brazil, and new logistics and service facilities in the US.

Looking ahead, Liebherr expects 2026 to remain a challenging year due to geopolitical uncertainties and cautious customer investment sentiment. However, with a strong order book and continued focus on innovation and sustainability, the Group remains confident of long-term growth, with stronger momentum expected from 2027 onwards.
