LPMS To Boost Trade Through Agartala Srimantapur And Sabroom Land Ports
The Government of India will launch the Land Port Management System (LPMS) in New Delhi on June nine, with the Union Home Minister and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah to lead the inauguration. The digital platform is presented as a single integrated system to streamline operations across land ports and to modernise the management of cross-border movement. Officials described it as a state-of-the-art solution that will enable secure real-time exchange of logistics and regulatory information and aim to reduce delays at frontier points.
The LPMS will introduce end-to-end digital processing of cargo and passenger movement, including slot booking, payments, tracking and single-window clearances, officials said. The system has been linked with national platforms such as ICEGATE and the Unified Logistics Interface Platform (ULIP) and with the motor vehicle ecosystem to improve interoperability. Authorities indicated that the integration is intended to enhance transparency, operational efficiency and coordination among government agencies and private operators involved in border trade.
For Tripura, the launch coincides with the inauguration of newly developed stakeholder accommodation facilities at the Srimantapur Land Port that are designed to support border security personnel, officials, traders and transport operators. Tripura was noted as a key node for India-Bangladesh connectivity, with major land ports at Agartala, Srimantapur and Sabroom. Officials suggested that better infrastructure and digital systems are aligned with efforts to simplify processes and to strengthen trade facilitation on the eastern frontier.
Authorities placed the launch within broader national objectives for a technology-driven and secure border ecosystem under the leadership of the prime minister as India advances towards the goal of Viksit Bharat by 2047. The initiative was presented as part of ongoing measures to modernise border management and to support seamless cross-border commerce while maintaining regulatory oversight and security.
