ALMM Update Solar Module Capacity Surpasses 217,107 MW in August 2026

Four new entrants added a combined 1,638 MW, with SLR Solar adding 1,020 MW, Veda Solar 546 MW, Senses14 Power Solution 57 MW and Poola Energy 15 MW. Existing manufacturers increased capacities through new plants, notably Adani New Industries which added 4,781 MW in Kutch, Gujarat, Fujiyama Power Systems which added 1,014 MW in Dadri, Uttar Pradesh, and HR Solar Solution which added 631 MW in Howrah, West Bengal. Credence Solar Panels added 1,796 MW, SAEL Industries 2,694 MW and RPSG Solvanta 249 MW. Sova Solar saw a 79 MW reduction after model updates.

The list had been updated on July 6, 2026 with an addition of 10,494 MW that raised the ALMM List-I total to 204,383 MW. Solar photovoltaic cells have been brought under ALMM List-II, which since its first edition on July 31, 2025 has been revised eight times to reach 31,758 MW from 14 manufacturers. The ministry has extended exemptions for net metering and open access projects from List-II compliance until December 31, 2026.

In March 2026 the ministry expanded the ALMM framework to include ingots and wafers under a proposed List-III and indicated mandatory use from June 1, 2028 once the first list is published. The first List-III will be issued when at least three independent wafer manufacturers with a combined 15 GW capacity are enlisted, and the cut-off date will be seven days after that initial publication. The ALMM mechanism remains a central quality control measure shaping manufacturing compliance and procurement for India's solar sector.
