Odisha develops new policy to link construction to water conservation
Since there is a constant need for earth to build roads, especially national highways, the contractors frequently satisfy this demand by purchasing it from farmers or obtaining it through the mining of minor minerals.
The only long-term solution to the water crisis, on the other hand, is water conservation or recharging through the creation and restoration of water bodies like tanks, ponds, check dams, and farm ponds in rural areas. On the other hand, many parts of the State experience severe water scarcity during the summer. The State government has made the decision to coordinate both projects so that the gramme panchayats will profit by receiving a free pond or other water feature drilled into their land.
Additionally, it will aid in the restoration of water bodies, and the construction company will receive free embankment material for its projects constructing new roads and expanding existing ones.
