ICICI Bank to raise Rs 100 bn via infra bonds
These long-term bonds have the advantage of not having to maintain a cash reserve ratio (CRR) or a statutory liquidity ratio (SLR).This assists them in mitigating the asset-liability management (ALM) issues that arise when granting project loans to the infrastructure and core industries sectors. According to bond market sources, these bonds could be issued in one or more tranches depending on the requirements and market conditions.
ICRA has awarded a "AAA" rating to ICICI Bank's proposed infrastructure bond issue.
At the end of June 2022, ICICI Bank has borrowed Rs 388.09 billion through long-term infrastructure bonds. According to the bank's investor presentation for Q1 FY23, it is up from Rs 221.39 billion a year before.
