Gurugram to prioritise 28 largest bulk generators to reduce garbage burden
The Municipal Corporation of Gurugram (MCG) instructed its seven assistant sanitation inspectors to locate Gurugram's 28 largest bulk waste generators (BWGs), four of which are located in each inspector's district.According to officials, MCG joint commissioner Naresh Kumar ordered the officials to identify the 28 BWGs in a meeting in an effort to compost and recycle the greatest percentage of the daily garbage they dump in order to eventually lessen the load at the overburdened Bandhwari landfill. These BWGs include hotels, townships, and commercial properties.
The Gurugram civic body is likely to meet with the owners and managers of these properties to make sure they abide by all the rules outlined in the Solid Waste Management (SWM) Rules, 2016, including on-site composting, categorising waste into different types of categories, such as dry and wet, and sending recyclable items to MCG's empaneled agencies. If they don't follow the order, their properties will be sealed.
