Sify Begins Rs 15 Billion AI Data Centre Project In Vizag

The 50-megawatt facility is being developed by Sify, a subsidiary of the NASDAQ-listed Sify Technologies, on 3.6 acres of government-allotted land in Vizag.
According to a release from the Telugu Desam Party (TDP), the state-of-the-art AI Edge Data Centre and CLS will position Visakhapatnam as “India’s next global digital gateway”, significantly boosting subsea connectivity and AI computing capabilities at the edge level.
The project, with an investment of Rs 15 billion, is expected to generate over 1,000 jobs and enhance regional capacity for AI-driven data processing and cloud infrastructure.
It will also strengthen data exchange links between India and Southeast Asian countries, including Singapore, Malaysia, Australia, and Thailand, improving international network resilience and bandwidth efficiency.
“This project marks a crucial step towards transforming North Andhra into a technology-driven region,” said Nara Lokesh, highlighting the government’s focus on positioning Andhra Pradesh as a digital innovation hub.
The facility’s development underscores India’s growing emphasis on AI infrastructure, edge computing, and digital connectivity, aligning with the country’s broader Digital India and Make in India visions.
