ABB India Unveils ACS380-E Drive for High-Performance Automation

ABB India has launched the ACS380-E drive, a next-generation machinery drive designed for automation-centric machine building, adding to its all-compatible drive portfolio. The solution simplifies machine integration and is future-proofed for industrial automation with advanced connectivity, faster commissioning and built-in cybersecurity capabilities.

The ACS380-E features integrated dual Ethernet ports for plug-and-play communication with all major industrial automation networks, eliminating the need for separate modules and reducing installation complexity. The drive also supports fast USB-C “cold commissioning,” enabling configuration and firmware updates even without powering on the system, helping reduce commissioning time.

“As the Indian industrial landscape evolves with advanced automation and the rising need for energy efficiency, it is crucial for variable speed drives to adapt effortlessly to diverse industrial applications,” said AR Madhusudan, President and Local Division Manager, Drive Products, ABB India. “Our customers across diverse industries will be well-equipped to build high-performance machines with the futureproof ACS380-E drive with robust cybersecurity for maximum uptime and meeting regulatory demands of today and the future.”

Engineered for machinery applications across sectors including textiles, cables and wires, plastics and intralogistics, the ACS380-E supports future compliance with stringent cybersecurity requirements. The drive provides access to commissioning and firmware management through USB-C or Ethernet, ensuring continuous security updates. It supports common rotary motor types across 100–600 V global voltage ranges and delivers superior motor control for packaging systems, conveyors, extrusion lines and multi-axis equipment.

The drive integrates with major automation systems, including ABB’s AC500 PLC and solutions from other leading automation providers, and can be installed in confined cabinet spaces due to its compact design and flexible mounting options. Enhanced with ABB’s Drive Composer software and compatible with Drive Composer 3, it offers advanced monitoring, adaptive programming and rapid offline configuration.

The ACS380-E machinery drive is now available in India with ratings up to 22 kW, 400 V, and was launched at ENGIMACH 2025 in Gandhinagar, held from 3–7 December 2025.
