Trane Launches HSWE Chiller for Asia Pacific

Trane Technologies has launched the HSWE magnetic bearing centrifugal chiller, developed specifically for the Asia Pacific market. The new system is designed for demanding cooling applications, particularly data centres, and strengthens the company’s premium chiller portfolio across the region.

The HSWE combines high efficiency, dependable performance and intelligent controls. Powered by advanced compressor technology and an improved heat exchanger design, the unit achieves a full-load COP of up to 7.3 under China’s GB standard and an AHRI IPLV of up to 12.3. With electricity estimated to account for nearly 88.5 per cent of a chiller’s lifecycle cost, the system can help building owners and operators reduce operating expenses.

The chiller is also prepared for next-generation HFO refrigerants, supporting customers in meeting changing sustainability and regulatory requirements. Its low-noise operation, with sound levels as low as 73 dB(A), makes it suitable for hospitals, commercial buildings and other noise-sensitive environments.

For data centres, the HSWE offers cooling capacity from 500 to 1,250 RT for standard applications and from 600 to over 1,500 RT for data centre use. It supports leaving chilled water temperatures of up to 35°C, allowing integration with waterside economiser and free cooling systems. The unit can restart within 25 seconds after power restoration and reach full load within two minutes, helping reduce the risk of server overheating and business interruption.

The system is equipped with Trane’s AdaptiView controller, which integrates adaptive control, feedforward control and variable primary flow compensation. These features enable precise chilled-water temperature control and stable output under changing load and variable-flow conditions.
