NTPC invites bids for 1,500 MW wind-solar hybrid projects

NTPC has floated a tender for setting up 1,500 MW of interstate transmission system-connected wind-solar power projects across India. The deadline for submitting online bids is October 17, 2023. Bids will be opened on the same day.

The minimum capacity of each project on a site must be 50 MW> Bidders have to pay Rs 300,000 [USD 3,064] + GST ​​​​​as bid processing fee for capacity up to 50 MW, USD 6,008 + GST ​​​​​​for capacity above 50 MW and up to 100 MW, Rs 1 million [USD 12,016 + GST] for capacity above 100 MW and up to 250 MW, Rs 2 million [USD 24,033] + GST ​​​for capacity above 250 MW and up to 500 MW and 3 million Rs [36,049 USD] + TPS for capacity greater than 500 MW. Contractors must pay Rs 1.16 million [US$13,939]/MW as deposit in advance.

The PPA will be signed between NTPC and the successful bidders through the signing of power purchase agreements with state-owned power distribution companies for the identified capacity. Only commercially established and operational technologies should be used to minimize technology risks and enable timely start-up of power delivery to projects. To qualify, the net worth of bidders must be at least Rs 11.46 million [$73,901]/ MW of listed capacity in the last financial year.

The responsibility of obtaining an ISTS connection will lie entirely with the creator. Only type-certified wind turbine models listed in the revised list of models and manufacturers must also be used for projects.

Furthermore, NTPC has made it mandatory to use solar modules included in the list of approved models and manufacturers published by the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy.

The hybrid power producer must maintain an energy supply to achieve an annual supply corresponding to an annual capacity utilization factor of at least 80% of the declared value and above 120% of the published CUF value. within the PPA term of 25 years. Recently, NTPC floated a tender to execute a 120 MW ground-mounted solar project and a 56 MW floating solar project at the NTPC Ramagundam thermal power plant in Telangana.
